When BODO CEO Peter Lochan decided to found the company, he was inspired by numerous different sources. As previously mentioned, stories about his uncle in Trinidad who used abandoned car tyres and attached them to the shoes of oil field workers to give them better grip, was one such inspiration. Another was the small charity, Whispers One World Orphanage, founded by Peter’s friend Veronika Cejpkova.
Veronika was inspired to found Whispers after travelling through Africa and seeing the hardship faced by orphaned and neglected children. She founded the charity in 2010 and since then has been caring for and providing education for several orphaned children in Uganda. With Whispers, these children get schooled, proper meals and much needed medical care. The charity also provides jobs for members of the local community and aims to improve the general quality of life for all those living there.Hearing about Veronika’s great work and many achievements with Whispers, inspired Peter to follow his dreams and get BODO off the ground. Seeing the evidence of what Whispers has achieved, despite being a small charity that relatively few people had heard of, gave Peter the impetus to try and do the same.
