This weekend I spent an afternoon at the Fashion Sunday at the Oval Space in Bethnal Green, which I visited to do a little bit of research for BODO. As a start-up, we are keen to make connections with other new designers and speak to people who have
created a product and are pushing to get it out there into the public eye. Eventually, the aim is to showcase the BODO Sandal’s Xtremely Tyre’d range at similar events before we go all out and head for the high street retailers.
Having never been to the Oval Space before, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised; A huge spacious building where dozens of bespoke fashion designers, artists and creatives set up their wares for people to browse through. The whole thing had a distinctly London vibe, a DJ played upbeat music in the background, whilst
people walked through the stalls, speaking to the people who had put their heart and soul into the items on display, trying things on or picking up a business card or catalogue. For me it was really nice to speak to some of the people who had created the items I was looking at, to discover their inspirations, as it’s something you don’t get to experience when you shop on the high street or online. Event organisers Sonia Williams and Tiffany Alwis believe the event has a huge potential to get even bigger and better as London has a huge appetite for this sort of thing. After my experience there I’d be inclined to agree with them! If you love original, bespoke fashion, then you should definitely check out the next Fashion Sunday event.
